So now you have navigated from the Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport to where you will be staying in Paris, and you are all settled in. After a relaxing dinner in your adopted neighborhood, and a good night’s sleep, you are ready to venture out.
Let’s say that you are staying close to the Arts et Métiers Métro station and you want to go to the Louvre. You could walk or take the bus, but you want to try your navigation skills on the Métro.
I always approach this navigation thinking backwards … what is my destination, where am I in the moment, which Métro lines will get me from point A to point B. Looking at the Métro Station map, I can see that I need to be on Métro Line 1 (yellow) to get to the Louvre métro stop. Métro Line 1 goes through the Châtelet métro stop. I need a Métro line from Arts et Métiers to Châtelet. It looks like Métro Line 11 (red) goes from Arts et Métiers to Châtelet. And that’s all there is to it! And don’t forget, you have your Navigo, so even if you get off at the wrong stop, no worries, you just navigate back to get back on the Métro … no charge!!

Voilà, vous êtes maintenant installé depuis l’aéroport Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle jusqu’à votre lieu de séjour à Paris. Après un dîner relaxant dans votre quartier d’adoption et une bonne nuit de sommeil, vous êtes prêt à partir à l’aventure.
Imaginons que vous séjourniez près de la station de métro Arts et Métiers et que vous souhaitiez vous rendre au Louvre. Vous pouvez marcher ou prendre le bus, mais vous souhaitez tester vos compétences en matière de navigation en métro.
Je commence toujours cette navigation en pensant à l’envers : quelle est ma destination, où je me trouve à l’instant présent, quelles lignes de métro me mèneront du point A au point B. En regardant le plan de la station de métro, je vois que je dois emprunter la ligne 1 (jaune) pour me rendre à la station Louvre. La ligne 1 passe par la station Châtelet. J’ai besoin d’une ligne de métro d’Arts et Métiers à Châtelet. Il semble que la ligne 11 (rouge) relie Arts et Métiers à Châtelet. Et voilà ! Et n’oubliez pas, vous avez votre Navigo ! Même si vous vous trompez d’arrêt, pas de souci, vous reprenez le métro sans problème… sans frais !
Et encore mieux, utilisez ce site pour indiquer votre station de métro de départ et votre destination finale… et voilà, vous avez tous les détails de votre itinéraire !
