Do I brave the crowds, and go to Mont-Saint-Michel? The short answer is, Absolutely!!

Overtourism is a problem for Mont-Saint-Michel, exacerbated by tourists mostly visiting on day-trips, which causes overcrowding from 10:00 to 16:00, especially in the summer. The Mont-Saint-Michel foundation has introduced measures to change this pattern and reduce daytime overcrowding, including introducing free parking after 18:30, except during July and August.

Yes, it is tourist-y, and yes it is crowded, but the opportunity to walk the mythic narrow paths of this historic site is ABSOLUTELY worth it!

Next week, we will jump on the train in Paris and head to Amboise in the Loire Valley.

Le surtourisme est un problème au Mont-Saint-Michel, exacerbé par les touristes qui viennent principalement en excursion d’une journée, ce qui provoque une affluence de 10 h à 16 h, surtout en été. La Fondation du Mont-Saint-Michel a mis en place des mesures pour remédier à ce problème et réduire la suraffluence diurne, notamment en instaurant le stationnement gratuit après 18 h 30, sauf en juillet et août.

Oui, c’est touristique, et oui, il y a du monde, mais l’occasion de parcourir les sentiers mythiques de ce site historique en vaut vraiment la peine !
