This weekend, I finished watching the recent Masterpiece/PBS TV adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ iconic French novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, which follows Edmond Dantès, a young man falsely accused of treason. Although this tv series is in English, it is set in France, mostly Paris and Marseille.

It has been a while since I watched the French film based on the same novel. The series, across eight episodes, has more time to develop the characters and strategize the ending. Now, I want to read the novel … en français, bien sûr … it is a classic!

Ce week-end, j’ai terminé la série Masterpiece/PBS, adaptation du roman culte d’Alexandre Dumas, Le Comte de Mont-Cristo, qui raconte l’histoire d’Edmond Dantès, un jeune homme accusé à tort de trahison. Bien que la série soit en anglais, l’action se déroule en France, principalement à Paris et à Marseille.

Cela fait longtemps depuis que j’ai vu le film français tiré du même roman. La série, en huit épisodes, permet de mieux développer les personnages et d’élaborer la stratégie du dénouement. Maintenant, j’ai envie de lire le roman… en français, bien sûr… c’est un classique !
