Des faux amis …

Location, nf : rental property, rented house, rented apartment.

Location de voitures, loc v : car rental.

The French word « location » looks exactly the same as the English word “location.”

Be careful with this one.
The most common meaning of “location” in English is “position, place, site, venue, locale, or coordinates.”

In French, « location » means “rental.” When you see an advertisement describing « Les meilleures locations de vacances », it specifically means “the best holiday rentals,” and not “the best to places to visit.”

La location est de 600 euros par mois.
The rental is 600 euros a month.
